Therapeutic massage in a home setting provides a relaxing and serene environment in which to allow ones cares to melt away. That is a major reason that I am working from a home. From my best information, A New You is either the first or at least one of the first home based massage therapy businesses in Lee’s Summit, MO.
This blog site will be a place to share information, and experience. I first became interested in helping to alleviate the effects of fibromyalgia. As years have elapsed, I have seen many types of results from different modalities. I hope to be able to share some of this experience, and also provide a forum for other therapists who may have comments and experience to share as well.
Hi, I am currently working with a chiropractor and as a fellow therapist, I’m sure you know the nightmares that come with that.
I own a 3 bedroom ranch home and thinking of converting one of the rooms into a massage room.
My question to you is, how is your home-massage working out? I mean, how do you feel with “strangers” knowing where you live kinda thing? I need some advice on how to go about this.
Thanks, I appreciate your time.
Gigi
Hi Gigi,
Sorry I hadnt had a chance to get on here in a few days…. Well, most of my clients are from word of mouth and so are through a channel of trusted friends, family or current patients. I give out the address once I have spoken to the individual on the phone and have a better feel for the person. But it really is no different than having friends and colleagues know where I live… The benefits are enormous of course… No rent to lease to pay, I have more peace and quiet because its my environment…. I also do part time work in a salon, and frankly I would never get one in a salon if I could help it… they are too noisy and too many odors.
One drawback in my community is that one must get approved and zoned by the Planning Dept, and then be approved at City Council Putblic Meeting. It was a hassle, but its in the past now. So, my experience is that it is positive. I know that there are undoubtedly people who might come off the street to a storefront more than they do a private residence… for one thing the sign out front “may” help somewhat. Although it has never gotten me to enter the doorway of a Massage Therapy Business. Once again, I go to someone because of an acquaintance. Anyhow, I encourage you to try it… worst thing that might happen is you decide to eventually try something else… I would be interested to know how you like it… Larry
